  • There are millions of blind people in India inspite of it being a highly developed country.
  • 81% of this blindness is due to cataract.
  • Most of India's blind people live in poverty with limited access to eye care facilities.
  • The social and economic hardships created by blindness gravely affect individuals, families, and the nation at large.
These stunning facts are changing, thanks to the vision of Dr. V.K. Raju, MD, Clinical Professor of West Virginia University in Morgantown. When his colleague, Chandra Sankurathri, Ph.D. joined him in the efforts, the dream became a reality. Srikiran is continuing to improve the vision of the rural population with its various programs under the able leadership of Dr. Chandra Sekhar.
